What is the CCA-F certification?
CCA-F stands for Claude Certified Architect — Foundations. It's Anthropic's foundational certification for engineers and architects who design, build and ship solutions with Claude — and it focuses on agentic systems, not just chat.
What "Foundations" means
"Foundations" signals the entry tier of the Claude Certified Architect track: it establishes that you have the core architectural competencies to build production-grade Claude applications. It's broad rather than specialized — covering the whole modern Claude surface area: the Messages API, the Agent SDK, Claude Code, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
What it proves
Passing the CCA-F demonstrates that you can:
- Design and implement agentic loops and multi-agent orchestration with coordinator–subagent patterns.
- Configure Claude Code and use it in real workflows, including CI/CD.
- Engineer prompts for reliable, structured output.
- Design clean tool interfaces and MCP integrations.
- Manage the context window and build for reliability.
Because the questions are scenario-based, the exam rewards judgment about trade-offs — the kind of thinking a real architect applies on the job.
Solution architects and engineers with about six months of hands-on Claude experience across the API, Agent SDK, Claude Code and MCP. If you've already built and shipped something agentic with Claude, the CCA-F is a natural way to validate it.
Why get certified?
A foundational certification is a fast, credible signal in a field that's moving quickly. For freelancers and consultants it's a differentiator on proposals; for employees it's evidence for a role change or a raise; for teams it's a shared baseline of competence. As Claude adoption grows, being early to the credential compounds.
